Jennifer Ehle won a BAFTA Award for her performance as Elizabeth Bennet in Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice.
Colin Firth bursts out on the screen but in a reserved role, that of Mr. Darcy, a wealthy prideful bachelor who slowly falls for Elizabeth. The chemistry between these two actors is undeniable and although we root for "Lizzy" from the moment we meet her, Mr. Darcy's character is revealed cleverly and subtly. Andrew Davies wrote the screenplay and Simon Langton directed this wonderful TV mini series of 6 episodes. Filled with colorful characters and fine performances the cast shines around its stars of Ehle and Firth.
With lessons to be learned and love to be found, this 1995 production is definitely one that will live on even as the remakes continue.
